Medicare and Medicaid enrolled 8.5 million full dual eligible individuals nationwide in December 2024. Medicare coverage for these individuals varied, with 71% (6.1 million) enrolled in a managed care or accountable care relationship while 29% (2.5 million) had uncoordinated fee-for-service (FFS) Medicare coverage.
These 2.5 million individuals in Medicare FFS could benefit from efforts to coordinate Medicare benefits while integrating Medicare and Medicaid experiences.
